Note / Here, a line of white paint has been stamped onto the trunk of the tree in the photo. For the Blossom series Van Warmerdam made small canvases, which then served as the point of departure for her large Blossom series. MvW: ‘By reacting to the image, there is a certain accentuation of what I consider eye-catching in the print. How simple can it be? I sometimes ask myself that, but I continue to be fascinated by the phenomenon of what strikes me first about an image, and then I make the canvas anyway.’
